“Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki gave away to the cast and crew of “Battleship Island” vests from TOPTEN, a famous fashion brand in South Korea. The 31-year-old is an endorser of the clothing brand.

He was chosen by TOPTEN to be its brand ambassador, fresh from the success of his 16-episode blockbuster hit shown in late February to mid-April over KBS 2TV in South Korea and iQiyi in China. TOPTEN is just one of the endorsements that Song Joon-ki got after the success of “Descendants of the Sun.”

With unconfirmed reports that he and actress Song Hye Kyo are allegedly no longer part of season 2 of “Descendants of the Sun,” fans of the actor has his upcoming war movie, “Battleship Island” too look forward to watch him again, this time on the silver screen. Sharing the lead role with Song Joong-ki are Hwang Jung-Min and So Ji-Sub, Inquisitr reported.

The movie, directed by Ryoo Seung-Win, would be distributed by CJ Entertainment, the largest entertainment company in South Korea. Set during the Japanese colonial period, “Battleship Island” is inspired by brave Korean fighter who escaped the coal mines run by the Japanese, according to iTech.

Song Joong-ki plays the role of Park Moo-Young, a young freedom fighter who is part of the Korean Independence group. His character sneaks into Battleship Island in Nagasaki to rescue a member of the group. Hwang Jung-Min plays Lee Kang-Ok, a bandmaster at Kyungsung Hotel who goes to Japan to rescue his daughter, but is caught and exiled to Battleship Island. So Ji-Sub plays Choi Chil-Sung, a very brave war hero who is the headache of the island’s guards.

For the movie, the “Descendants of the Sun” actor had to lose a lot of weight because his role is that of an exhausted man.
