Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey are arguably the two biggest stars in the UFC today and the WWE wants them on their television show. According to the latest rumors, either "Notorious" or "Rowdy" could make an appearance at WrestleMania 33.
McGregor is coming off an impressive win at UFC 205 against Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC lightweight championship and become the first-ever fighter to hold two UFC belts from different divisions simultaneously. The WWE has shown interest in the brash Irishman now that he put his next fight on hold.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Triple revealed that they are interested in signing McGregor to a deal. Of course, it is a part-time deal with an appearance at WrestleMania 33 as the main priority since it is the WWE's biggest show of the year.
"He could come over, he's got it all, man - he's got the personality, the skills, the talk. He's an entertainer, for sure. What does he walk around at? 180lbs? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200lb guys who are stars. You don't need to be 300lbs anymore," Triple H said.
"He could do just as well as Floyd Mayweather when he fought the Big Show. That really worked. Conor could do it for sure," he added.
On the other hand, Rousey is currently preparing for her comeback fight on December 30 at UFC 207 against Amanda Nunes. She is coming off a long layoff following her first ever loss back in November last year to Holly Holm.
The 29-year-old revealed in an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that her fight against Nunes is definitely one of her last matches. She is rumored to be focusing on her movie career, and possibly as a WWE superstar.
It should be noted that Rousey appeared at WrestleMania 31 to help The Rock confront Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. She was also scheduled to wrestle in a mix tag team match this year but her filming schedule got in the way.
According to The Inquisitr, the WWE would make a lot of money off of both fighters but McGregor might not be welcomed in the locker room. He famously bashed WWE superstars last August that infuriated a lot of people.
The safe bet is Rousey, who is a known wrestling fan and her star will shine brighter if she defeats Nunes. However, these are just rumors at the moment and the only confirmed celebrity for WrestleMania 33 is Shaquille O'Neal.
