Conor McGregor accomplished his mission of becoming the only two-division UFC title holder following his win over Eddie Alvarez and WWE’s Triple H was witness to it. The WWE COO has now opened up possibilities of seeing the Irishman in the WWE where he could receive something the UFC bosses are apprehensive to give.
Conor McGregor walked his talk at UFC 205 and now most are wondering what could be next for the Irishman. A possible jump to the WWE is nothing new, something that “The Notorious” spurred up himself following potshots at the roster some months ago.
Triple H is obviously aware of the jab but has turned to his business sense to turn it into something beneficial for the Vince McMahon-owned business, Forbes reported. McGregor could easily be inserted into the roster where he could be part of the rising cruiserweight division.
T.J. Perkins and Brian Kendrick are the shining stars of that division on WWE Raw and adding more star power could be possible. And while that possibility seems abrupt, McGregor could initially follow a route that retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. did before.
Mayweather came face-to-face with the Big Show at Wrestlemania 24, a no disqualification match that undefeated American boxer won via knockout, WWE.com reported. While most of it was for show, that is perhaps what makes McGregor perfect.
“The Notorious” may only weigh about 180 lbs. However, the size and weight are pretty much irrelevant these days and McGregor can more than likely carry that out on his own. On who he could face, Sheamus seems to be valid candidate seeing how the two had an exchange before.
To make that happen, the WWE will have to spend big. McGregor sounded off about wanting an ownership stake with the UFC so it will be interesting if Vince McMahon and company would take that under consideration.
There is no question that McGregor is a big draw and any faction or group will certainly profit from his expertise and showmanship. But will the UFC or WWE give in to that huge request and worry about profiting later?
