Blackpink reached an impressive milestone with their latest track "Playing with Fire." Recently, the four-member band became the first Kpop girl group whose song nabbed a spot on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart.
"Playing with Fire" debuted at number 92 on the Canadian Hot 100 list for the week period covering Nov. 26, according to Billboard. The said track is one of the singles from Blackpink's latest extended play (EP), titled "Square Two."
Blackpink's current Billboard Canadian Hot 100 feat marks the first time that a Kpop girl group entered the said list. In previous chart periods, South Korean musicians such as Psy, EXO, BTS, as well as 2NE1 band leader CL each nabbed a spot on the said list with earlier hits.
So far, Blackpink and BTS' tracks "Playing with Fire" and "Blood Sweat and Tears," respectively, are the only Kpop songs that entered Billboard's Canadian Hot 100 list this year. The said BTS track nabbed the number 86 spot when it debuted on the said chart in early November.
Blackpink's "Playing with Fire" also reached impressive chart placements in various music lists both in South Korea and in other parts of the world. The said track even topped Billboard's World Digitial Songs chart during its peak, as indicated in the same report.
Similar to the Kpop idol group BTS, Blackpink's album "Square Two" has also been on the top 10 of the World Albums Chart for several weeks, according to Korea Herald. With a three week tenure on the said chart's top 10 list, the South Korean girl group's album even reached the second spot during its peak.
Meanwhile, BTS' album "Wings" has been on the same chart for six weeks. At its highest ranking, "Wings" even nabbed the first spot on the World Albums Chart.
