Google's new Android 7.0 Nougat version is finally rolling out to more smartphones and the lucky users of an LG G5 from Sprint will get to experience the update.
LG recently released the LG V20 which runs Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and claimed that the said phone was the first to come out with the updated version. However, that was untrue in some areas where the Google Pixel and Pixel XL launched first.
Now, LG is bringing the Nougat version for their G5 smartphone users who got them from Sprint. Users in the United States who have Sprint's LG G5 phones will finally be able to download the Android 7.0 Nougat version through OTA or the official website once it gets uploaded, GSM Arena has learned.
South Korean users with their LG G5s were the first to receive the update, which saw the new Android 7.0 version installed on their devices. Google's new Nougat major update brings significant improvements and features that make the user's life easier and better overall.
One of the said improvements is the more efficient Doze feature that helps save battery life. Sprint's LG G5 Android 7.0 Nougat update file size amounts nearly 1.3GB, Android Police reported.
The LG G5 Android 7.0 Nougat version user interface looks similar to what can be found in the V20 out of the box. That makes sense considering that the G5 is sometimes considered as the cheaper version of the V20 sans the highly advanced audio tech thanks to the Hi-Fi Quad DAC.
LG also introduces a DPI changer with the update. It helps LG G5 Sprint users to change their pixel density on their phone itself instead of having to go all the trouble of typing in commands via ADB. The feature is useful for those who want their UI to be scaled down or up to fit their needs.
Users are advised to download the update through a Wi-Fi connection at home or in the office and not with their mobile data. Some data plans are capped and the huge file size may just reach the limit instantly.
