Japanese game maker Capcom has just announced the upcoming installment of one of their most insane crossover fighting game series, "Marvel vs Capcom Infinite." The forthcoming title was made known at the recently concluded Capcom Cup tournament and at this year's PlayStation Experience that were both held in California. The new title was teased through a minute-long video showcasing the latest inductee in the massive roster of the game's combatants - Captain Marvel.
In addition, the trailer also featured some of the resident fighters of the game franchise namely Iron Man, Ryu, and Megaman. According to Gamespot, the game seemed to be toned down a bit, as it was noticed that the new fighting game will only feature a 2 on 2 battle royale as compared to its predecessor that features a 3 on 3 mayhem.
Another add-on to look forward to is the reinstatement of the Infinity Gem that was first featured in "Marvel Super Heroes" that came out a couple of decades ago. Per the announcement trailer, there was a scene where Ryu grabs ahold of the Power Stone and would, later on, give Captain Marvel one serious beatdown. The latter retaliates as she possesses the Time Gem that made her noticeably quicker and delivers a finishing move towards Ryu afterwards.
There was even another video from which the latter part of it hinted what could be the game's final boss as it suggests that the new villain might have another face situated on its torso.
Meanwhile, Polygon reported that the latest offering from Capcom is already being compared to its other previous releases that bear the same whim. Furthermore, it is still pretty much early to tell how will the game be received by gamers next year including the game developer's plans with the series.
It's not yet clear as to when will the game be released, though it is expected to arrive next year.
