Marvel Cinematic Universe fans might be getting a treat as the rumored "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" title will reportedly launch in 2017 with characters coming mostly from the MCU and not the traditional comics route.
Previous "Marvel vs. Capcom" games have featured characters coming from some of the famous comic franchises. The X-Men were popular mainstays in the game with many opting to use Wolverine because of his satisfying skill animations on screen.
There is no confirmation yet from the developers, but the rumored game could reportedly launch in 2017. Multiple sources have told Polygon that the "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" game is already in the works and could nearly be finished considering that the release date is already expected next year.
Capcom will reportedly reveal the new "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" during the Sony PlayStation Experience event starting in Dec. 3. Trailers or teasers are expected should the company finally unveil the game at the said event.
With the MCU in focus in the upcoming game, players could see the usual Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk characters. Black Widow could also make an appearance as well as the new rendition of MCU's Spiderman that was introduced in the "Captain America: Civil War" film.
Magneto, Wolverine or even Deadpool could be absent in "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" because they are not technically part of the MCU, Game Spot reported. Doctor Strange could also be part of the game considering that he was just introduced in the MCU.
Besides the X-Men, The Fantastic Four could also be absent in the game. The superhero group did have a movie reboot but it was also not from Disney which owns the MCU.
Ant-Man, Yellowjacket, Groot, Gamora and Drax are also expected to be in the "Marvel vs. Capcom 4" mix. Other characters are not confirmed yet and Capcom is expected to reveal their own roster as well in the upcoming event.
