Most of the time, it is female performers who suffer wardrobe malfunction while doing production numbers. It had happened to Mindy Kaling, Cara Delevingne and Britney Spears.
At the eighth Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA) in Hong Kong on Friday, it was a male artist who had a wardrobe malfunction. The victim was Chen, a member of the Korean boy band EXO. His pants tore midway in the groin area while the group was performing “Transformer.”
The rip was on the front part of his pants, so movements resulted in Chen’s white underwear peeping every time he danced. But since the 24-year-old singer is a performer, he knew he could not let the incident affect his number so Chen quickly removed his jacked and tied it around his waist, pretending his pants was not torn, Asiastarz reported.
But it was not EXO’s last number since they still had to sing “Monster.” Unfortunately for the boy band member, the choreography involved some of the group members required to go down on the floor. Chen, although red in the face out of embarrassment, just smiled, continued with his routine while doing his best to cover his exposed undergarment with his jacket. He finished the song without any further incident.
According to iTech, the EXO would be featured in the January 2017 issue of ViVi magazine, a Japanese fashion publication distributed in Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand. For the pictorial, the band members were styled in James Dean fashion. The band members voted Chen as the most thoughtful member of EXO.
