"Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" recently featured Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Luke's (Scott Patterson) wedding, but showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino said that they initially had something different in mind.
While speaking with TV Line, the executive producer admitted that their budget was cut so they could not come up with a lavish wedding. Instead, they simply made sure that all of Lorelai's and Luke's loved ones will be accounted for. Despite the changes in the onscreen couple's wedding, Sherman-Palladino still shared some information from their initial plan.
According to her, the wedding was supposed to look like a massive festival at Stars Hollow. They wanted to incorporate some flash mob tricks to make the gathering even bigger. However, in the end, the creators of the revival ultimately made the decision to just focus on Lorelai and Luke, as well as the former's daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), and it still worked.
Meanwhile, after the four-episode revival wrapped up, fans started speculating on Rory's shocking pregnancy announcement. In one of the episodes, Rory told everyone that she is expecting a baby. Fans now believe that the child is her mother's. In the "Winter" episode, Lorelai and Luke talked about raising a child together. However, Lorelai may no longer give birth. As a result, they started talking to their relatives who could help them out with other alternatives.
The fan theory also makes sense since Rory is still having a hard time choosing which guy she should be with. Not to mention, Rory is also not very focused on settling down with a man, and it is possible she would not want to impose some daddy duties on her suitors, according to US Weekly. However, it seems that fans will never know whether or not this theory is true because another revival in the coming years may no longer be possible.
"Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" aired its four-part episode on Netlfix on Nov. 25.
