The "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" featured the reunion of several Hollywood celebrities who reprised their respective roles in the Netflix reboot. However, one of the original cast members was missing from the remake, namely Chad Michael Murray.
Murray was one of the Hollywood stars who had a recurring role in the earlier seasons of "Gilmore Girls." The actor portrayed Tristan, a Chilton student who teased Rory (Alexis Bledel) during her first week at school.
Linked romantically to Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) daughter, Tristan served as one of Rory's suitors. However, with the depth of Rory's feelings for her first boyfriend Dean (Jared Padalecki), Tristan's attempts to form a relationship with her was unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, Murray eventually left the series when he joined the TV drama "One Tree Hill." With a final appearance during a "Gilmore Girls" Season 2 episode, the actor's exit from the show was depicted by having Tristan leave Stars Hollow to enter military school.
Despite Murray's early departure from the show, many fans were hoping to see the actor in the Netflix reboot. In an earlier interview with People's Choice, the "Agent Carter" star shared that he was open to reprising Tristan provided that his appearance would be "something really cool."
The actor added, "I always want to do something that's going to challenge me. I want a challenge, something fun, a little obscure. If they had something new and fun, absolutely."
However, Murray was unable to rejoin his former cast members in "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life." Anton Narinskiy, known for his role Terry in the TV drama "Days of our Lives," portrayed Tristan in the Netflix reboot.
Many fans may have speculated that the "One Tree Hill" alum was not invited to the "Gilmore Girls" remake. However, scheduling conflicts prevented the actor from joining the four-episode special.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Liza Weil, who plays Paris, shared that Murray had a busy calendar during the Netflix reboot's filming activities. She stated, "It would've been nice [to have him in the revival], but he's busy. He's doing a lot of things and he's doing very well for himself."
"Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" was released on Nov. 25, Friday, on Netflix. Watch the trailer below:
