"Westworld" Season 1 ended with the robot hosts becoming self-aware and capable of murdering humans. The Man in Black (Ed Harris) took a shot at his arm but had a big smile on his face now that the threat was real. Actor Ed Harris has now given further insight on what his character will face in Season 2.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Harris first confirmed that the Man in Black's arm was not broken during the fight with Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood). The arm was harmed but the actor clarified it was only dislocated, indicating the Man in Black will still be able to fight back against the renegade hosts.
"I think it's more him wanting to play this game on extreme mode," he stated. "He wants to find out if, in fact, these people are lethal, how's he going to deal with that? How's he going to face that? And we'll see. I don't know exactly what's going to be going on in the second season, but I'm sure it's going to be wild."
He further explained that the moment the hosts fired back at him in the finale wasn't really the happiest moment for the Man in Black as he was also happy when he killed 10 people in the village with Lawrence (Clifton Collins Jr.) and the latter's family.
Instead he claims the finale's uprising was the most exciting moment for the Man in Black. Harris explains that in Season 2 the threat of hosts fighting the guests has a deeper meaning and risk. He now states that the game has only just begun.
A "Samurai World" theme park was also hinted at during the Season 1 finale, Screen Crush reported. When asked if he could picture the Man in Black spending time in the Samurai theme park the actor said no. Despite this, he did state he trusted series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.
Harris also confirmed that the creators did not approach to tell him their plans for his character in Season 2. All he knows at this point is that he is reprising his role for the second season, which is scheduled to premiere by 2018.
