LA Lakers President Jeanie Buss has a plan to bring back the Lakers fans into the Staples Center this coming season. At 16-44, Lakers are not getting into greatness anytime soon. Buss is planning to make all home games a celebration of Kobe Bryant's loyalty and longevity to the franchise.
Bryant is entering his 20th season with the LA Lakers. It could also be his final season.
Buss also disclosed that the organization is planning out several ideas to honor Bryant at home games and promised that it is going to be special.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar, a former LA Lakers star, received a 1989 Rolls Royce in his final regular season game on his 20th and final season with the team, however, Buss disclosed that Bryant's celebration is going to be different, Sporting News reported.
"We're not asking the NBA to celebrate Kobe, with Kareem, it was endearing to watch every city do something special and thank him for all that. But that was clearly Kareem's last year. I don't know if we're going into this clearly knowing that this is Kobe's last year. Only Kobe can decide that." Buss explained.
Twenty years in the NBA has been a wonderful achievement for Bryant. Only Kevin Willis (23 seasons), Robert Parish (21 seasons), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (20 seasons) and Kevin Garnett (currently playing in his 20th season) have passed that mark.
LA Lakers will be commending Bryant on his 20th season which is also a good business move and idea by the organization. Lakers has been getting by on Bryant's fame for the last two seasons which is why they signed him on to a two-year contract amounting to $48.5 million extension agreement, according to CBS Sports.
Bryant is the money maker of the team since fans buy tickets from anywhere just to get a glimpse of the NBA star.
