Intel's processors are being threatened by the new AMD Ryzen chips. The very first Ryzen chips are expected to arrive in early 2017 but alleged benchmark results have already been leaked.

Benchmark tests show if a particular device or component fares well with the competition. AMD has not yet released any official Ryzen benchmarking results but they do claim that it is faster than the predecessors.

What fans are expecting is that the new chips from AMD will be able to take the Intel processors head on with only a fraction of the price itself. It would be a cheaper and possibly more powerful option for PC gamers and heavy users.

One AMD Ryzen chip was spotted to have a performance near the Intel Core i7-6900K with regards to graphics and video encoding thanks to French magazine Canard PC conducted, Guru 3D reported. The tests conducted included 3DSMax, Blender, PovRay and wPrime.

AMD's Ryzen chip proved to be faster than the Intel i7 6800K processor but a bit slower than the 6900K. However, the tests also showed that the AMD chip was as power efficient as the 6900K.

Unfortunately, the PC gaming results showed that the AMD Ryzen chip is only as fast as the Intel Core i5-6600 processor. If the user wants the best money-to-value ratio, the AMD Ryzen chip still proves to be a better choice. In addition, the high-end chips in the new line have not been revealed yet. The AMD Ryzen chip tested had a base clock of 3.15GHz and a boost clock of 3.3GHz, Tech Radar India reported.

There is also the factor that the Ryzen chip tested was only an engineering sample. The commercial product could hold slightly different performance values and it would also differ from each individual chip.

AMD's Ryzen chip is expected to be released sometime in Q1 2017. The company could unveil more details regarding their new processor line at the upcoming CES 2017 event.
