"Arrow" Season 5 previously revealed that Diggle has a son named John Jr. in the future.
The same character was shown in "Legends of Tomorrow" since the series takes place in the future. In the Flashpoint, John Jr. was called Connor Hawke. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim was asked whether or not Diggle's son and Connor is one and the same person.
Unfortunately, Guggenheim confirmed that they still have not finalized information about the character. "It is hard for me to answer the question without committing to a version of time travel, because in order for that to be the case, the Flashpoint would have had to have happened. You start to get into the very, very complicated time travel rules that, quite frankly, I as a writer do not have an appetite to answer unless we tell a story one day that deals with John Jr., and even then, I do not know if we would directly address the issue head on. Anyone who watches 'Legends,' knows that, by design, we do not spend a lot of time discussing temporal mechanics - some people like that and it annoys the hell out of other people," he said.
Meanwhile, other than real identity of John Jr. in the year 2046, viewers may also be excited to see the return of Katie Cassidy in "Arrow" Season 5. However, the promo for the upcoming episode confirmed that the Laurel Lance who returned to Star City is not the Laurel that died a few months ago. Even though the character looks exactly like Laurel and can scream as loud as the Black Siren, the new version of the character is depicted as a villainous one.
In other news, the return of Laurel also paves the way for one major question to be asked. How was she or her body resurrected? After all, the Lazarus Pit, the only means to resurrect dead bodies in the hit The CW series has already been destroyed. To make things worse, Laurel also does not have any idea what really happened to her.
"Arrow" Season 5, episode 10 will air on The CW on Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. EST.
