'Vikings' Season 4 Episode 16 spoilers: Another major character set to die? Ivar seeks revenge for Ragnar's death

As viewers have seen the death of "Vikings" central character Ragnar in episode 15, fans can expect another death of a major character. With the King of Norway dead, his son Ivar has more than enough reason to seek revenge for the death of both his parents.

Ragnar, who was executed by the order of King Aelle through the pit of vipers, may have seen his death already coming. When the blind coachman asked the Norway King how he plans to escape, the main protagonist only said he has no plans of escaping.

With the central figure of "Vikings" now gone, followers of the History drama may be asking who takes over his place. There is Lagertha, Rollo, Bjorn and Floki who are all good candidates for the shift in attention, but Ivar is anticipated to be the main character this time, Forbes reviewed.

According to the review, Ivar is one enthralling new figure that could become the central protagonist of "Vikings." With the death of his father and mother, the Lothbrok child is expected to seek revenge for his parents, and his target could be Lagertha who killed her mother Aslaug, the review added.

With this expectation, although 2016 has already claimed a major character, none could stop the History drama from claiming another one in case production decides to. Although the review noted it could be another significant loss to the roster of characters, anything is possible under the sun.

Meanwhile, Ragnar actor Travis Fimmel already revealed in his interview with Entertainment Weekly that his character was already planned before not to last long. "I was meant to die at the end of the first year," the Australian actor said.

Scenes in the episode 16 promo released by History features King Harald wanting to get rid of the Lothbroks in order to become the new King of Norway and Lagertha consulting with The Seer to ask whether she would die at the hands of any of Ragnar's sons.  "Vikings" Season 4 episode 16 airs on Jan. 4, 2017, Wednesday at the History Channel.
