LG Chief Technology Officer Skott Ahn has just confirmed that LG G6 is legit and that the rumor mill has been correct all along. On Jan. 4, Wednesday, the executive mentioned that the phone was assuredly LG's next flagship smartphone and that it would launch in the near future, although without a modular design like that of the LG G5.

Ahn was in an interview with The Wall Street Journal at CES 2017 when he sparingly leaked LG's plans. He asserted that the South Korean electronics maker plans to release a fresh flagship phone, dubbed LG G6 "in the very near future."

Ahn also disclosed that the G6 will not come with the same modular design of the G5. Instead, the company plans to differentiate its upcoming products after the flop of its last version.

With the G6, LG claims that it is committed to resuscitating its struggling phone division. "Spinning off the smartphone division is not something we would consider," Ahn told the publication.

Apart from a price range of $500 to $600, the LG executive did not leak further details. The LG G6 is expected to launch in Europe, North America, and South Korea. In China and other countries, it will only be available online.

As with the changes to the design of its LG G6, LG is simply responding to the feedback that consumers are not excited by modular phones. According to Phone Arena, the company has reportedly struggled to persuade its customers to buy additional modules for the G5 smartphones.

LG, a giant company known for making home appliances and electronics, has been lately losing its market share in smartphones, ranking behind other giants like Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. A group of Chinese handset companies including Lenovo Group Ltd., Huawei Technologies Co., and Xiaomi Corp. have also provided stiff competition.

Recently, LG's mobile unit posted a 23 percent drop in quarterly sales and continued to plummet with a string of losses. The poor results followed the company's launch of the LG G5 in February 2015, which it had spent a fortune to advertise. Nevertheless, the phone did not catch on with many consumers.

Now LG hopes that the LG G6 will revive its dying smartphone division when it launches this year. Here is what the G6 looks like according to the Easy Fun Channel:
