Verizon may have confirmed that there will be an incoming Google Pixel and Pixel XL 256GB variant after they are listed on their official website. It may be good news to those who want more space to store their 4K videos, games and other huge media files.
The company still has no official statement on the issue and the page on their website is still up. It may mean that there is an actual 256GB variant coming soon but there is no word on whether it will be exclusive to Verizon or not.
One Verizon spokesman did tell Droid-Life that the 256GB Pixel mention is indeed a mistake. However, the variant is still placed on their website which could mean something else. Google themselves have no announcements regarding the larger variant.
Another possible explanation is that Verizon just reused old numbers from the iPhone page. They might have changed the name to Google Pixel and Pixel XL but they failed to remove the 256GB in the text.
Google Pixel and Pixel XL are both expensive but they do have high-end specs such as AMOLED displays, 4GB RAM and the 64-bit Snapdragon 821 from Qualcomm, Android Headlines reported. The difference is that the Pixel only has a 5.0-inch FHD screen while the Pixel XL has 5.5-inch QHD. Both have non-removable batteries so users will be able to carry spare ones while on the road.
The new smartphones from Google are often compared with the LG V20 and the iPhone 7 because of their camera features. Currently, both models are available in either 32GB or 128GB variants and there is no microSD card slot. A Google Pixel or Pixel XL 256GB variant would come very much in handy whether that would be offered by Verizon or not considering that there is no means for expandable storage.
