Following the confirmation that "Girl Meets World" has been cancelled, a new trailer for the Season 3 finale has finally been released, and it was definitely a tearjerker. Earlier this month, Disney confirmed that the sequel series to "Boy Meets World" will officially wrap up with the end of Season 3.
The trailer for the upcoming swan song seems to be one of those episodes where emotions are just as high in the script as they are in real life, and the showrunners are bringing all viewers in for their final goodbye, according to Comicbook. Based on the trailer, all the regular cast members, including those who have guested at least once on the show--from Mr. Feeny down to Minkus--will be there for the final bow.
While the show is set to leave Disney for good after the current season, there is a chance for it to be renewed in another network. According to series creator Michael Jacobs, some networks are actually interested to pick up the series for its future seasons primarily because of the reaction of the audience following the cancellation.
"I can tell you it's because of the audience's reaction to the cancellation that there is interest in other places. For anyone in show business, if you ask them why they're doing something and they say they're doing it for themselves, they won't sustain long. Those that answer 'We're doing it for the audience and mean it, they sustain,'" Jacobs told Deadline.
Disney announced the cancellation of the show on Jan. 4, after cast member Rider Strong revealed on his podcast "Literary Disco" that they had already finished the third season. The series finale, titled "Girl Meets Goodbye," will air on Jan. 20 and will see the Matthews family contemplate a life-changing decision, according to Disney. In its official statement, the network also thanked the talented creative team, cast and crew behind the show for being with him throughout the show's 70-episode run.
"Girl Meets Goodbye" will feature the grand reunion of Strong, Ben Savage, William Daniels, Lee Norris, William Russ, Danny McNulty, Anthony Tyler Quinn, Will Friedle and Betsy Randle. Watch the trailer for the Season 3 finale here:
