LG Electronics has announced a new budget Android smartphone dubbed as LG Aristo for T-Mobile and MetroPCS in the United States. The lower mid-range device offers low hardware specs at $59, which will be fancied by consumers who do not bother high-end processors.
Outside, the LG Aristo sports a 5-inch In-Cell touch display with 720 x 1280 HD screen resolution and a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch. The "In-Cell" technology offers a "brilliant color" and "remarkable clarity" in viewing, according to Digital Trends.
One of LG Aristo's highlights is its sleek design, which the company touts as one of the main USPs of the handset. The phone offers an 8mm slim design, with 2.5D tempered glass on the front panel, and sleek edges that provide a better grip. The LG's in-cell touch screen contributed to Aristo's slim profile.
In its internal chassis, the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz, which is supported with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal expandable storage onboard.
The low hardware specs of LG Aristo are quite covered by its camera department, which offers impressive sensors. According to SlashGear, the device features a 13-megapixel front camera with an LED flash and support for 1080p video capture. Its front snapper gets a 5MP front-facing unit with additional features such as Gesture Shot, Selfie Light, Auto Shot, and image editor.
The Gesture Shot offers users an easy feat on capturing by just hand gestures like making a fist to take four selfies in sequence. The Selfie Light option gives soft light around the Aristo's photo preview for self-potraits, and the Auto Shot takes selfies automatically using face detection.
Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, Wi-Fi Direct, USB Tethering, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G LTE with VoLTE capability.
The LG Aristo also included a slew of LG's special features, like "Knock On" double tap to wake, "Knock Code" security pattern, a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel, capacitive home button, and support for T-Mobile's Wi-Fi Calling and VoLTE features. LG Aristo houses a small battery inside at 2410mAh, which the company claims to deliver up to 17 hours and 10 minutes of talk time and standby time of up to 14 days and 8 hours.
LG Aristo will be available at MetroPCS on Jan. 23 for $59 after an instant rebate. Beginning Jan. 25, the smartphone will be sold by T-Mobile for $144 (or $6 per month for 2 years).
