There has been lots of talk recently regarding what the matchups at WrestleMania 33 will be. A potential matchup at "the grandest stage of them all" is one that pits former WWE champion Brock Lesnar against up and coming wrestler Braun Strowman.
While the WWE has stated that Lesnar will make his return after the WrestleMania 33 event, they do have a history of changing plans in order to increase sales figures. A big man versus big man matchup will definitely help drive sales up, especially if it will feature a marquee name like Lesnar's, Wrestle Zone reported. If the Undertaker does not end up facing Strowman at WrestleMania, then there is a good chance that this bout will take place.
If the matchup against Lesnar were to happen, then it could spell the beginning of Strowman's second major singles feud, with his first being against former NXT champion Sami Zayn. During the WWE Roadblock pay-per-view, Zayn earned a rather impressive victory against Strowman by merely lasting 10 minutes in the ring with him, Fox Sports reported. This meant that Zayn did not need to pin or submit Strowman in order to win the match.
Strowman stated that 10 minutes was more than enough time for him to pick up the victory against Zayn. However, even though he utterly dominated Zayn during their matchup, the latter carried on and chose not to give up, even stopping Raw general manager Mick Foley from throwing in the towel for him multiple times throughout the match.
Zayn's perseverance paid off as he proved that he is one of the mot promising talents on the main roster. He managed to achieve this despite a recent series of up and down performances.
With Strowman having issues with Zayn, who gave him his first singles loss since the WWE brand split, and Lesnar wanting to bounce back from his shock defeat to Goldberg, both wrestlers want to show that they still have what it takes to perform in big events. The victor of this contest will prove just that, which is is why a matchup against one other would work in both their favors.
