Newly-promoted squad Deportivo Alaves (5-6-8, 23 points) is scheduled to clash with powerhouse team Atletico Madrid (10-4-5, 35 points) at their home field of Mendizorrotza Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 28 as the 2016-2017 La Liga season continues.

Alaves has won only once in their last six matches as the team has drawn four games and lost one other. They are in the now in the 12th spot in the 20-team Spanish top-flight table, 10 points above the bottom three relegation zone and eight points below sixth-place team Villarreal, who is temporarily holding the final qualifying berth for next season's Europa League.

The draw snapped Atleti's three-game winning streak as they remained in the fourth spot in the overall standings.
