Newly-promoted squad Deportivo Alaves (5-6-8, 23 points) is scheduled to clash with powerhouse team Atletico Madrid (10-4-5, 35 points) at their home field of Mendizorrotza Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 28 as the 2016-2017 La Liga season continues.

Alaves has won only once in their last six matches as the team has drawn four games and lost one other. They are in the now in the 12th spot in the 20-team Spanish top-flight table, 10 points above the bottom three relegation zone and eight points below sixth-place team Villarreal, who is temporarily holding the final qualifying berth for next season's Europa League.
Los Babazorros is coming off a 2-2 draw with fellow newly-promoted side Leganes last Saturday also at the Mendizorrotza Stadium, as per Marca.
Victor Laguardia scored the opening goal of the match in the 11th minute for Alaves but Miguel Angel Guerrero was able to level the count for Leganes right at the stroke of halftime as the two squads entered the break tied at 1-1.
Edgar then grabbed the lead back for head coach Mauricio Pellegrino's side in the 51st before Pablo Insua netted the final goal of the game in the 84th to salvage the draw.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid was also held to a 2-2 draw last Sunday by fellow contending squad Athletic Bilbao on the road at the San Mamés Stadium, Daily Mail Online reported.
Koke broke the game's deadlock early in the third minute but Inigo Lekue was able to level the count in the 42nd to keep the game tied at the half.
Bilbao then took the lead in the 56th minute with a goal by Oscar de Marcos before Antoine Griezmann salvaged the draw for head coach Diego Simeone's side with an equalizer in the 80th.
The draw snapped Atleti's three-game winning streak as they remained in the fourth spot in the overall standings.
