Police have now confirmed that the reports of shooting inside Lil Wayne's house was a hoax call. They had received a non-emergency 911 call from a man indicating that he fired shots and require assistance
The hoax caller also said that four people have been shot and require medical help. The call was made around 12.40pm. Police force along with SWAT surrounded the $9.4 million property immediately.
Wayne was not at home at the time of the incident. Police entered the house and inspected each of the ten bedrooms to find nothing. The call was soon declared a hoax, but the house remained surrounded until 3:00 pm.
"We weren't able to locate any victims or subjects inside the home," said Miami Beach Police spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez. "The resident of the home and the staff had been extremely cooperative with police, which we appreciate. At this point, we have broken down the perimeter and have been unable to locate any victims or subjects. We can say for sure it was a hoax."
Although the call is declared as a hoax, police have started an investigation to ascertain the real motive behind such a prank. The police officials stressed that such phony calls should not be taken lightly as "it draws much of the attention away from legitimate issues in the area," WSVN reported.
Meanwhile, TMZ reported earlier that a man was seen lurking outside the property a couple of days back. Police was called at that time, too, to look into the matter. Wayne was not at home at that time. Cops searched his yard for the suspect but found no one.
Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr, is an American rapper, songwriter and entrepreneur. The 32-year-old rapper's eldest child also became a victim of a hoax rumour in August 2008, when it was reported wrongly that Wayne's daughter had died in a car crash. The rapper was quick to clear the air saying that his daughter is alive, healthy and surrounded by family.
