Italian Version
The dish has apparently an Italian counterpart called Maccheroni alla Mugnaia or Miller’s Wife Pasta. The dish dates back to the 15th century in Abruzzo, Italy, although Americans do not need to travel to Italy to taste it.
The New York Daily News reports that the dish is being served at the Allora Ristorante, a Northern Italian spot in Midtown. To prepare it, the chef handrolls a 30-foot long noodle, twirls it into one dish which is good for four people. Because of the noodle’s length, the dish comes with kitchen shears, Elio Albanese, the owner of the restaurant said.
