Jim Parsons is executive producing the "The Big Bang Theory" spin-off and he knows who will play the young Sheldon in the prequel series. However, he would not reveal the details yet.
It has been a big speculation on who will play the younger version of Sheldon in "The Big Bang Theory" spin-off. Previous reports revealed that the prequel series may include some characters from the original series that include Sheldon's father George Cooper, their mother Mary Cooper, his fraternal twin sister Missy and his older brother George.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Parsons was asked if the lead cast of "Sheldon" was already selected. The actor said, "We do. They're supposed to release it but I'm not going to say."
Parsons revealed that he is proud of the kid, who was chosen to portray the young Sheldon in "The Big Bang Theory" spin-off. Many kids auditioned for the role, and he can say that the kid landed the role because he was special, the actor explained.
Series creator Chuck Lorre and showrunner Steve Molaro have been very considerate with Parsons as they always make it a point to listen to his opinions about certain matters about the spin-off. He revealed that he did not intervene in the casting of the lead because he believes that anyone, who would be selected for the role has his own way of portraying the teenage Sheldon.
Just recently, Parsons gave an advice to anyone who will be cast for the role in "The Big Bang Theory" spin-off. He revealed that the actor should observe him closely and do his own version of the character.
The prequel series follows the story of the young Sheldon and how he spent his early years with his family in his hometown in Texas. The spin-off is a big departure from the original live audience set-up because it is similar to "Malcolm in the Middle," a single-camera family comedy, according to Metro.
Meanwhile, "The Big Bang Theory" star Simon Helberg, who plays Howard Wolowitz, became one of the centers of attraction at the SAG Awards. While walking on the red carpet, he displayed a card that reads, "Refugees Welcome" while his wife Jocelyn Towne had scribbled "Let Them In" across her chest.
The red carpet protest came after President Donald Trump banned refugees from seven Muslim-majority nations from entering the United States. Other stars who condemned Trump's latest banning of Muslim immigrants include "Orange is the New Black" star Taylor Schilling, "Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and "Stranger Things" star David Harbour.
