After playing a charming nurse in SBS' "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim," actor Kim Min Jae will star next in the upcoming fantasy drama tentatively titled "While You Were Sleeping." The 20-year-old star will join previously announced actors Lee Jong Suk and miss A's Bae Suzy.
Kim, who recently portrayed a petulant king in tvN's "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," is up to play Jae Chan's (Lee) younger brother. He is a charming high school student who dreams of becoming a police offer like his father but his grades are not that good enough, according to Korean newsoutlet The Korea Herald, as cited by Drama Beans.
Opposite Kim is Ko Sung Hee. She is up to play Jae Chan's junior in the university but his senior in the prosecution team. While she has a soft and sweet personality, she is a sharp prosecutor with a high indictment rate and a talent for getting suspects to confess. More details about their character will be revealed soon.
Directed by Oh Choong Hwan, "While You Were Sleeping" follows a woman (Suzy) who can see unfortunate events that will happen to others through her dreams and Jae Chan, a prosecutor who tries to stop her tragic premonitions from becoming a reality. The script is penned by Park Hae Ryun, whose previous projects include the 2014-2015 "Pinocchio" and 2013's "I Can Hear Your Voice."
Also starring Jung Hae In, Lee Sang Yeob, and Park Jin Joo, "While You Were Sleeping" will be a 100 percent pre-produced drama. It will air on Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) network every Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 (KST) in the second half of this year.
Meanwhile, miss A member Suzy's exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment will expire on March 31. Speaking before a group of local media, as cited by Soompi, the entertainment label said that they are still discussing with the singer whether or not to renew the deal. Still, many industry insiders are optimistic that the contract will be renewed.
