Fans of "Samurai Jack" are now rejoicing as Cartoon Network will be airing the new Season 5 of the animated series. Genndy Tartakovsky is back at the helm after the supposed movie adaptation failed to materialize.
Tartakovsky will still be the executive producer and writer for the show. He recently wanted to make a "Samurai Jack" animated film but he later decided that the story is better told in a mini-series format. The series started in Cartoon Network from 2001 and briefly paused in 2004.
Phil LaMarr will still be voicing the protagonist in "Samurai Jack" Season 5 which is set 40 years after the events of Season 4, Slash Film reported. Despite the violent nature of the show, blood and gore are kept at a minimum.
In the previous seasons, Jack is shown to be solving puzzles and evading danger. While there are combat scenes, they are mostly against robots and Aku the shadow demon himself.
Voice actor Mako Iwamatsu passed away and it is highly unlikely that Aku will still be present in "Samurai Jack" Season 5, Gizmodo reported. There is still a small chance that they may show flashbacks and just use a different voice actor instead.
Cartoon Network is currently making the "Samurai Jack" Seasons one to four available via livestreaming on their website. No log-in is required and viewers can watch all of them without any limit in order to catch up when Season 5 finally airs.
"Samurai Jack" Season 5 is connected with the previous ones but viewers will still be able to enjoy the new episodes even if they have not watched the older versions. The show is also darker as it now moves to Adult Swim where "Rick and Morty" Season 3 will air later this year. "Samurai Jack" Season 5 returns on March 11.
