Former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders became the inspiration for the Menswear Collection of Balenciaga's Fall 2017 at Paris Fashion Week. The collection includes shirts, scarves, hoodies and bomber jackets have stamped red and blue logo.
The Balenciaga Creative Director Demna Gvasalia added a third swoosh underline and placed the year 2017 off-center. The logo used in the menswear collection is similar to the Vermont senator's campaign logo.
According to Huffington Post, the 75-year-old Democrat was shocked by the luxury line he inspired, however, he does not consider himself as fashionable. Sanders claimed and cracked a joke that neither he is not a great dresser nor a fashion maven. He added that he is not one of those fashion icons.
The sweaters and hoodies were layered over plaid buttons and paired with sneakers. Most of the models mimic Sanders' fashion style. Some may look like they could have been pulled from the senator's closet. The men's nail art is artistically painted with Balenciaga Red and Blue by Nail Artist Mei Kawajiri.
Models are wearing parkas, T-shirts and the puffer vests with the logo. The men's collection has oversized, loose-fitting suits, boxy blazers, and ties. It was said that the average price of a Balenciaga men's T-shirt is $275 and the official Sanders' T-shirt which is inscribed with presidential campaign logo is $25, as per Elite Daily.
Sanders has been the Junior United States Senator from Vermont since 2007. He is the longest serving independent in U.S. Congressional history.
