"The Originals" Season 4 will see Rebekah (Claire Holt) spending more time with Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) in the upcoming episodes.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Julie Plec said that Rebekah will return to New Orleans with the same question she had in mind five years ago when she left.
Rebekah is curious as to what her life should and could be if she is not part of the Mikaelson family. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah's (Daniel Gillies) issues are not even helping her with her desire to be away from them as much as possible.
Meanwhile, Kol is also asking himself the same question. This will pave the way for the two characters to bond and rely on each other through some of their darkest moments in the upcoming episodes.
Eventually, Rebekah and Kol will think how much of their crazy families are they willing to be a part of and willing to live through.
Rebekah's return to the hit The CW series first came to light in May of last year after the finale for Season 3 aired. At that time, then executive producer Michael Narducci told TV Line that Rebekah returned to stop Marcel from destroying New Orleans now that he is the new leader.
However, one of the storylines that were not explained in the finale had to do with who sent Rebekah back. There is also some danger in bringing her back because she has no idea who she is, where she is and what she is meant to do. Throughout this struggle, she will receive help from Kol.
Narducci also spoke highly of Holt in the finale episode for "The Originals." "Claire is on fire in this episode. She has such a range of things to play, from grief to hope to reuniting with Marcel; the dying embers of their relationship with Marcel are so clearly displayed in the looks she gives him," he said.
"The Originals" Season 4 will premiere on The CW on March 17 at 8 p.m. EST.
