Approximately 100 delegates from several countries are expected to attend the World Tourism Cities Federation Asia-Pacific Tourism Conference to be held in Penang from March 26 to 27.
The media, agents, hoteliers, destination managers, policy makers and government officials will be present in the event, exchanging views on promoting sustainable growth in the tourism industry.
The event is organized by both the World Tourism Cities Federation and Penang Tourism Development Committee. Representatives from century-old Penang Clan Associations and Malaysia-China Association will be also involved in the event.
According to Danny Law Heng Kiang, the State Development Committee Chairman, the delegates would be coming from Vietnam, Indonesia, South Korea, China, and other countries. They will be participating in forums and panel discussions by industry leaders as well as speakers from the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, China, New Zeland and many others.
He also gave details regarding the schedule and location of the two-day conference. The first day would be held at the Setia SPICE Convention Center and the second day on the Equatorial Hotel Penang.
The first day of the event will focus on the China tourism industry. Kiang said: "It will begin with networking and dialogue sessions with local industry players, followed by the main forum with the theme ‘One Belt, One Road: Construction of Tourism City Corridor and City Hub.' There will also be a tourism expo with booths set up by Chinese travel agents, including three from China International Travel Service."
"The second day would see three-panel discussions on city and tourism economy, development of meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions and cruise tourism," Kiang added.

Registration for the said event will close on March 13, 2017.
For the first day, participants will have to pay 50 yuan for the morning session and 80 yuan for the afternoon session.
For the second day, participants will have to pay 80 yuan inclusive of lunch and tea breaks.
