From 2014 to 2016, Justin Hartley played Scott Trosman in "Mistresses" and Adam Newman/Gabriel Blingham in "The Young and the Restless." Currently, he plays an actor in "This Is Us."
In an interview with amNewYork, Harley talked about being part of "This Is Us" and his co-stars. He said actors get a few auditions after reading a bunch of pilots and get cast if lightning strikes and "if lightning strikes twice, the show gets picked up, and it never happens where the show gets picked up and so many people watch it and it's critically acclaimed."
Hartley said he thought the "This Is Us" script was good when he read it and appreciated it even more after reading it with his co-stars Milo Ventimiglia, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown and Ron Cephas Jones. For Hartley, his co-stars are so good that he thought no one could play their respective roles other than them.
The story of "This Is Us" revolves around Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) and her husband Jack Pearson (Ventimiglia). They have three children namely Kate Pearson (Metz), Kevin Pearson (Hartley) and Randall Pearson (Brown).
Joining Moore, Ventimiglia, Metz, Hartley and Brown in the main cast of "This Is Us" are Jones as William H. Hill, also known as Shakespeare, Susan Kelechi Watson as Randall's wife Beth Pearson and Chris Sullivan as Kate's fiancé Toby Damon.
The entire cast was very excited and in love with the script, according to Hartley. This is what brings everyone together in "This Is Us," the actor added.
For Hartley, they are professional actors. Still, he could not believe he had the opportunity to work on the new series,
"This Is Us" Season 1 finale will air on March 14, Tuesday, on NBC. Before the finale, series creator Dan Fogelman told Variety that very few details changed from his initial plan.
While waiting for "This Is Us" Season 2, Hartley's fans can catch him on the upcoming film "Another Time," which will also star Arielle Kebbel and James Kyson. Watch Hartley get wet on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" here:
