Fans will engage in a thrilling experience in the upcoming film, "Unfriended", this coming April 2015. The film had its screening last Friday the 13th at Austin, Texas.
The film stars Shelley Hennig as Blaire Lily, Renee Olstead as Jess Felton, Courtney Halverson as Val Rommel, Will Peltz as Adam Sewell, Moses Jacob Storm as Mitch Roussel, Jacob Wysocki as Ken Kennington, Heather Sossaman as Laura Barns, Matthew Bohrer as Matt, and Anthony Rogers and Richard Courch as Chatroulette Stoner.
The story plot follows Blaire Lily and her friends, who are haunted online by an anonymous individual.
The film is set to be piloted by Levan Gabriardze, with Jason Blum and Timur Bekmambetov as producers while Nelson Greaves as the writer. Filming took place in Santa Clarita, California, United States.
Other works directed by Gabriardze are "Lucky Trouble" (2011), "Yolki 2" (2011), and "Yolki 3" (2014). Blum, on the other hand, is known for thriller movies such as "Paranormal Activity", "Insidious", "Sinister", "Oculus", and "The Purge".
Blum also shared his thoughts about the movie in The Verge. He said that then movie tackles the issue of cyberbullying.
"I think the story, always - the story and characters - are always the most important thing. There's a really good story in 'Unfriended.' They are six believable kids telling that story," Blum said.
The producer also added that story comes first before the framework.
"And a framework is really cool, but I would never look for the framework first. If you look for the framework first and then and then try to tell a story to match the framework, you're in trouble," he explained.
Initially, the film was given the title "Offline," which was changed into "Cybernatural" during shooting. However, both titles directly give the audience what the film is all about. The movie title was changed to "Unfriended" in the wide release.
The film had its initial premiere on July 20, 2014 at the Fantasia Festival. As per The New York Times, a film screening took place at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas last March 13. Prior to the screening, producer Blum noted to the audience that the film version may be different from its theatrical release.
The upcoming film "Unfriended" is slated to have its wide release in theaters and cinemas on April 17.
