It can be recalled that the 2013 horror film "The Conjuring" was a massive hit that generated $318 million from a budget of $20 million. Its success spawned a spinoff prequel "Anabelle" and a sequel "Conjuring 2." The spinoff film did also great in the box office as it earned $257 million from a budget of $6.5 million.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director of the upcoming sequel has recently shared a logo of the movie, which reveals the official title of the film. It has been confirmed that "Annabelle 2" will be titled as "Annabelle: Creation."
On the other note, several reports said that the first "Annabelle" film did not turn out as it was expected to be. However, despite that, it still acquired hundreds of millions of profit which paved way to the development of "Annabelle: Creation." This time around, the directorial seat was taken by the "Lights Out" director, David F. Sandberg, Movie Pilot has learned. The same publication did also cite that the teaser of the film, which was released a day before the official trailer was out, is quite promising. The report even noted that the teaser itself is better compared to the overall first "Annabelle" film.
In addition, the trailer revealed how Annabelle was created. It was unveiled that a doll maker and his wife lost their young daughter in a tragic accident. After their child's death, a ghost whom they thought was the spirit of their daughter frequently visits them. As a result, the grieving couple agreed to let the spirit possess the doll. It was too late when they realized that the spirit belongs to a demonic entity and not to their child.
It has been confirmed that "Annabelle: Creation" is set to be released on Aug. 11.
