Over the years, a lot of actors have taken over the Batman mantle, whether it is in a live-action movie or an animated adaptation. Each of these actors gave a unique flavor to their version of Batman, so it would be interesting to see all of them together in one film. Former "Batman" Val Kilmer has an idea as to how to go about this.
In response to a tweet from a Twitter user whom he thought to be actor Michael Keaton, Kilmer said his pitch would have him, Keaton, George Clooney and Christian Bale play bad guys in Ben Affleck's upcoming "The Batman." Affleck's Batman would then kill them all, CBR reported.
Kilmer stared in the 1995 movie "Batman Forever," succeeding Keaton who decided not to reprise his role after appearing in the 1989 "Batman" and the 1992 sequel "Batman Returns." After Kilmer, Clooney took over in the 1997 "Batman & Robin." After nearly a decade of inactivity, Bale revived the franchise in "Batman Begins" and went on to star in two more critically acclaimed "Batman" movies.
Meanwhile, "The Batman" is being rewritten from scratch by Matt Reeves. According to Comicbook.com, reports suggested that there's still a lot of work left to do for "The Batman."
"The Batman" is still in high development despite Affleck's recent rehab treatment. He was initially tapped to direct "The Batman," but later stepped down from the role, paving the way for Reeves to step in.
"Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require," Affleck told Variety. "Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film."
Reeves is contracted to do "War for the Plant of the Apes" until 2017, so it's likely "The Batman" will begin production in 2018. Filming will begin once all the pieces are in place as "The Batman" is expected to be one massive film.
"The Batman" will star Affleck, Joe Manganiello and J.K. Simmons.
