Chinese Premier Li Keqiang is convinced that the social issues faced by the country can be quickly resolved if economic growth could be stabilized and boosted.
At the conclusion of the National People's Congress' annual session on Sunday, Li held a press conference to highlight the importance of stabilizing the Chinese economy.
Apart from emphasizing the core task of meeting the growth target of 7 percent, Li said that as long as the country maintains a strong economy, its social problems can be solved.
Li claimed that even though the country faces a lot of other problems apart from the slowing down of its economy, such as problems in corruption, environmental challenges and social inequalities, the focus must still be on the boosting of the economy. Li believes that a strong economy is the foundation of the country's overall development.
The current challenge lies with determining what the best approach to stable economic growth is. Li believes that even though the economy is not as robust today as compared to the previous years, it has economic tools and policies toward higher economic growth.
"If growth slows [to an extent that] it affect employment and income, closer to the lower end of the range, we will [continue efforts to] assure markets of the economy's long-term outlook, while intensifying targeted fine-tuning to assure market confidence under current economic conditions," Li said on Sunday.
How reasonable growth is going to be achieved is still unclear, but Li only wanted one thing known: When stable growth is achieved on the economic front, it is also the time when social stability can be assured.
