"The Returned" continues to tell the story of the series characters in Episode 2: "Simon." The titular character (Mat Vairo) was supposed to marry Rowan (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) on the day he died -- six years ago. Meanwhile, a serial killer is on the loose.
Spoiler alert: This update recaps the highlights of Episode 2 of the "The Returned" on A&E. This episode's original air date on the network is Mar. 16, 2015.
In the second episode of "The Returned," Lena (Sophie Lowe) sees Simon again. She later remembers they have met before - before her sister Camille (India Ennenga) died. Camille was the titular character in the pilot episode of this U.S. version of "Les Revenant."
At the Winship residence, it becomes clear to Camille that her mother Claire (Tandi Wright) and Peter (Jeremy Sisto) are together. It hurts her that people just moved on after she died.
Simon shows up to Rowan again. This time, she does not freak out. But she is convinced he is just a vision. She explains why she is marrying Tommy (Kevin Alejandro). He lets her think he is not real, only to be confronted by Tommy later. Tommy suspects identity theft.
On the same night, Tommy digs up old photos of Rowan and Simon. He looks closely into the photos, startled that the Simon he locked up could be the real Simon who had died.
Elsewhere in the neighborhood, Dr Julie Han (Sandrine Holt) goes to the police station to look for any missing child report that could be related to Victor (Dylan Kingwell). She later learns from her nosy neighbor that Mr Goddard, a patient of hers, has jumped off a dam bridge.
Meanwhile, the town police is looking for a serial killer who attacked waitress Lucy at the end of "The Returned" Episode 1. Bar owner Tony (Aaron Douglas) is a suspect, but there is not enough evidence to tie him up to the murder.
Another day ends, and Julie lets Victor stay with her. While she is in the bathroom, it is revealed that Dr Han has the same knife stabbing scars as the serial killer's victims. In the guest room, Victor is seen drawing the shape of Julie's scars.
The next episode of "The Returned" airs Mar. 23. Titled "Julie," it is expected to look deeper into Dr Han's history. Her connection to Deputy Nikki Banks (Agnes Bruckner) will be revealed.
