Philippines' pride Manny Pacquiao had an unannounced anti-doping examiner on his rented apartment in Los Angeles in preparation to their May 2 mega fight with the undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather.
Although the visit is somewhat a surprise, both fighters are expecting series of drug tests as part of the $320M fight stipulation, Daily Mail reported. The visit was a bit sudden for Pacquiao, just 4 days after the red-carpeted media event in Los Angeles that officially launched the record breaking fight.
The examiner phoned Pacquiao in his rented home in LA while he was resting with his training team at the Wild Card Gym owned by future hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach.
Pacquiao did the blood and urine testing without any issues. It is well known that the 8-time division world champion had issues with blood extraction as it was one of the issues why previous negotiations of the mega fight has collapsed, but Pacquiao even told the medic smiling that he has no problem with the blood extraction.
According to International Business Times, Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, has cleared the issues that Pacquiao issued a $5 million challenge to Mayweather with regards to the testing and promised to give up the amount if in any cases he will fail the said tests.
Arum expounded on it and said that Pacquiao challenged Mayweather that if either of them will fail the test, they will need to give up the $5 million "bet" to clarify the issue that the Mayweather camp had thrown into Pacquiao about the former's use of performance enhancement drugs or PEDs. However, the Mayweather camp did not bite on the challenge, not because of doping issues on their side, because they know that they can squeeze more out of Pacquiao's purse if the fighting congressman will fail the test.
