The sexual assault case for former K-pop star Mina, an ex-member of AOA, has been forwarded to prosecution.
The Busan Police Agency said on December 1 that they received a complaint from the singer earlier in 2021. Subsequently, they were investigating a man in his 20s on charges of assault and rape.
The case has just been recently forwarded to the prosecution. A police official said that the crime occurred in 2007, but they were able to prove the crime by intensively investigating the individuals involved at the point.
Mina, a Busan native, made an appearance on a YouTube channel this year in September of this year to claim that she was sexually assaulted by a boy when she was just 14.
In the video, the singer explained that her friend told her that she was meeting a male student. So, Mina followed the friend to an empty house. It is there where an older boy sexually assaulted the former-AOA singer.
Mina had told the boy that she wanted to leave but that person beat her up with a beer bottle for four hours. He hit her everywhere on the body barring the face.
The singer went on to add that it would have been all right if it was only beating, but she was assaulted and raped. She was then released only in the wee hours of the morning around 2 AM.
Following her release, she wasn't even able to walk because her beating had been too bad. The person who did this to her went around boasting the crime he committed against her.
During the YouTube video, the singer also told why she didn't contact the police. According to her, if she would have called the police, then the perpetrator would have only been sent to a juvenile detention center. Mina was afraid of the revenge he would take.
The singer also posted on her social media that a lot of oppas, unnies, and friends helped her with the incident that took place in Busan when Mina was just in middle school.
The one time AOA singer said she handed over a lot of evidence to the police, pulled up a lot of memories, and they took the decision that the individual was guilty of the crime and handed him over to the prosecution.
Mina is now waiting for the judgment and hopes the perpetrator gets a deserving punishment and she does not want any more victims like her. She also said that hopefully all this won't end in vain and the person is punished.
