Steve Wozniak, Apple co-founder, says that he has concerns about the expensive $17K new Apple Watch, and believes that the electric iCar would be a better fit for the tech giant. He also predicts that computers will be surpassing human "pets" in the future, becoming a major threat.
In theory Wozniak, known commonly as "Woz" likes the idea of the new Apple smartwatch. However, he thinks that the priciest versions, which will cost up to $17,000, will not be popular among most consumers.
Wozniak said in a recent interview that the expensive "jewelry" versions of the Apple Watch do not feature apps. Instead, they are like a Rolex watch, which is bought for "prestige" and as a status symbol.
For example, Wozniak noted that the difference between the $10,000 and $17,000 versions of the smartwatches was only the band. He said that as an engineer that does not reflect his "world."
Instead, Wozniak wants a smartwatch that will firstly be part of his day-to-day life. In the past he tried watches such as the Samsung Galaxy Gear but got rid of them when he lost interest, according to Australian Financial Review.
Wozniak also likes the idea of the iCar since it would create a new market for Apple. He thinks the company is currently hiring people who could help to "build a vehicle," according to Venture Beat.
Finally, Wozniak also believes that humans might become the pets of computers in the future. He predicts that they within time that are going to "take over" the world.
In the past, Wozniak has opposed the Kurzweilian idea that computers will build machines to make humans obsolete. That has changed.
Wozniak noted that physicist Stephen Hawking and Tesla's Elon Musk have predicted that the future will be "very bad" for humans. Within time the machines will think faster than humans do, and run companies more effectively.
