The adoption rate of Apple's new operating system iOS 8 is really high as it now runs on nearly 77 percent of iOS devices.
iOS 7 occupies the second place while older versions are a meager minority at the moment.
It has been six months since the operating system for officially revealed. There has already been multiple launches to fix bugs and improve performance with iOS 8.1 and iOS 8.2. The operating system now runs on three quarters of the Apple devices including iPhones, iPod touch and iPads.
At least 77 percent of them have upgraded to the new OS while iOS 7 runs on 20 percent of the devices. The entire percentage of people still using older versions is just three percent, confirmed Apple Insider.
Its major competitor Google Android is still lagging behind in making people adopt their newest operating system 5.0 Lollipop. The version runs on a meager 3.3 percent of the devices and it is already six months since its original launch.
Majority of the devices still run on Android Jellybean, 42 percent to be precise while 40 percent of them use Android 4.4 Kit Kat. The company has been taking multiple measures to monitor device manufacturers and make them implement their OS updates.
Meanwhile, Apple has already released iOS 8.2, which provides better support for Apple Watch. The said version is more stable, bug fixes and has a reliable Health app for their users. The beta channel for iOS 8.3 is already open for the public, reports PCMag.
The increased adoption rate of iOS 8 is also being credited to the fact that Apple makes and distributes its own hardware whereas Android runs on devices made by at least two dozen manufacturers, from around the globe with varying specifications.
