The deadly disease Ebola is bound to happen to young children with the highest percentage of possibility, Philly reported.
According to a latest study, Ebola can hamper the entire immune system of a young child tem times faster than that of an adult. Also, it was observed that the young children who were diagnosed with Ebola in the current West Africa epidemic were required immediate medical attention and care than the adults who had contracted the same disease.
About 90 percent of the infants who caught this disease in the epidemic had lost their lives within days of contracting it and tthose who aged between 1 to 4 years met the same fate as well, Chron reported. About 80 present of them dies within days of coming in contact with this deadly disease. The incubation in kids lasted for less than 7 days, while for adults; it lasted for at least 21 days.
More than 23,000 people across the world have been sickened by this disease so far and more than 10,000 people have succumbed to it.
The researchers explained that this happens due to the loss of fluids; children become prone to dehydration more quickly than adults and hence give in to the disease at a very early stage. By the time these kids get to be diagnosed and get confirmed as to having Ebola in their immune systems, they are far far behind on fluid, and the doctors say, after that, there is hardly any going back; these fluids cannot be replenished quickly and the body gives up.
The scientists and the doctors urge that right now, the only best precaution to be safe from this disease is to be careful about consuming fluids as it spreads the fastest by that medium.
