Nina Pham, 26, has expressed her displeasure with Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital where she was employed and its parent company Texas Health Resources, which prompted her to file a lawsuit against the parent company.
Pham said that both institutions failed her and her colleagues when she contracted Ebola from a diagnosed patient at the hospital, WJCL reports.
During the interview with The Dallas Morning News, the nurse said, "I wanted to believe that they would have my back and take care of me, but they just haven't risen to the occasion. She also stated that the lawsuit is for the hospital's lack of proper equipment and training, saying she has become a symbol of a failure of a hospital system to prepare for a known medical crisis.
A response from Texas Health Resources was reported, with spokesman Wendell Watson saying, "Nina Pham bravely served Texas Health Dallas during a most difficult time. We continue to support and wish the best for her, and we remain optimistic that constructive dialogue can resolve this matter." Watson did not speak further with regard to the allegations.
The nurse told the newspaper company that she wants to make hospitals and other big companies realize that health care workers are vital, especially those who are always in the frontline.
Pham talked about her work in a chaotic environment during the interview, saying that she and her colleagues had little guidance on how to treat the deadly disease and, more importantly, to protect themselves from it. She also shared her story on how she was diagnosed and managed to recover, and the anxiety she is feeling for her future.
She was Ebola-free with the help of special care and experimental drugs.
