Director Sam Taylor-Johnson verified that the first film of "Fifty Shades of Grey" will be her last as the franchise's director.
The director conveyed in The Independent that piloting the film had been extreme and implausible and she was thankful for that. She also expressed her gratitude to Universal Pictures, the producers, the crew, as well as to Dakota and Jamie.
Working with author EL James was "difficult" and "frustrating", according to Taylor-Johnson.
The director also wished success to the future director of the film's sequels.
One major reason behind Taylor-Johnson's departure from the film is her conflict with the author, reportedly, as per The Guardian. James, reportedly, would not allow some changes into the story of Christian and Anastasia. She also had the final decision on the dialogue in the film, which Kelly Marcel enriched in her script. The author also led the sex scenes in parallel with the novel.
Meanwhile, rumors say that the wife of lead actor Jamie Dornan forbade him from doing the succeeding projects due to the sexual nature of the film. However, this was denied by the actor and confirmed that he and his partner Dakota Johnson will be doing the sequels.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" is an erotic romance film, based on the British author James' novel of the same name. It chronicles the deepening relationship between Anastasia Steele, a college graduate, and a young tycoon, Christian Grey.
The said film starred Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Dornan as Christian Grey.
After the film's release last February 13, pre-Valentine's day, it has got an estimated domestic gross of $164 million and an estimated foreign gross of $394 million, for an estimated total gross of $558 million. The romance film managed to become a hit with the audience, amidst of some comment from critics.
"Fifty Shades Darker", which is based on James' second book, is set to premiere in 2017. "Fifty Shades Freed", which is based on the third book, is slated to hit the big screen in 2018.
