Internet users always follow a pattern when it comes to creating passwords and browsing the web. A latest in-depth research by the Yahoo labs confirms that their e-mail messaging habits are equally predictable.
Most users when they access the computer and interact with various technical stuff assume that what they are doing is completely unique. But, it was revealed in the past that majority of them tried to create passwords with numbers in them and some of them even used the word password, as their security code.
According to Gizmodo, Yahoo Labs conducted an extensive research on e-mail usage and their ultimate goal was to find a pattern of behavior among the user community. They took many factors into account including age, gender, demographic and the devices that users had when sending those messages.
It also included the time of the e-mail sent, location of the recipient and the research continued to monitor over two million people at the same time before coming up with the results. At the end of the survey, it was concluded that users were highly predictable and followed the same pattern throughout the observation period.
People who are categorized as young replied quick short messages while older men were quicker to respond when compared to women. Weekdays were the most active period of them all when majority of the e-mails were promptly replied. When a user received multiple e-mails at the same time, he or she tends to reply only to a small percentage of the lot, reported Eagle Current.
The study will also be used to help e-mail providers like Gmail and Outlook come up with better solutions to help users organize their messages.
