Details about the upcoming 2016 Toyota Hilux leaked on the Internet claiming that it will replace the existing 2.5 and 3.0-liter engines with newer ones.
According to Indian Auto Blog, the 2016 Toyota Hilux will be unveiled in Asia in June. A month after that, Toyota will also unveil its 2016 Fortuner which based its new ladder-frame design to the new Hilux.
It appears that the leaked photograph was taken during an internal company meeting in Thailand which is one of the largest market when it comes to new generation utility vehicles, according to Practical Motoring.
It was previously reported that new models of Innovative International Multipurpose Vehicle (IMV) will use diesel engines. Toyota Hilux, Fortuner and Innova is a good example of IMV.
Based on the specification sheets, Toyota will downgrade the engine of the 2016 Hilux. The bigger 2.5 and 3.0-liter engines will be replaced by the 2.4 and 2.8-liter engines. Industry experts say that the downgrade will increase fuel economy but will not affect the cars driving comfort.
