The all-new 2016 Hyundai Tucson debuted at the recent 2015 New York auto show in an effort to boost its sales on the Korean crossover.
Under the hood, it has a new 1.6-liter turbo-four engine that can dish out 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Hyundai made its new 2016 Tucson to be a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Hyundai will be offering the new crossover to be available in Limited, Sport and Eco models, according to Motor Trend.
The Korean carmaker said that the Sport and Limited models can reach up to 25/30 miles per gallon city/highway in front-drive mode, while the all-wheel drive lags a bit behind at 24/28 mpg. The 2016 Tucson Eco model is expected to reach 26/33 city /highway, while its AWD counterpart can reach 25/30 mpg.
Hyundai's SE model also has the 2.0 liter I-4 engine and the six-speed auto which has 164 horsepower and torque of 151 lb-ft. It is estimated that it can reach 23/31 mpg city/highway for the front drive and 22/26 for the AWD.
The previous models of the Hyundai Tucson were not really aggressive looking, according to Digital Trends, but the new models have been given a heavy make over on its exterior.
Hyundai installed a new hexagonal grill and replaced the curvy design with sharp hitting lines far from the preceding models. It also has LED twin-projectors for its headlights.
Its wheels were also upgraded to 19 inches in an asymmetrical spoke design. Hyundai also installed a new twin bevel-cut chrome exhaust, departing from the old models' design.
Hyundai will be going toe-to-toe against competitors such as the updated Honda CR-V and the 2015 Toyota RAV4. The first batch of the new and upgraded 2016 Tucsons are expected to be available by summer.
