Kickstarter launched the game "Yooka-Laylee" and it managed to raise more than $1 million. It is a sort of a successor to the 3D platform "Bankoo-Kazooie"; it was able to get its required funding of $27,000 in under 40 minutes and is on course to become the largest project to be launched with the help of Kickstarter.
The much-anticipated game "Yooka-Laylee" raised $1 million in almost six hours. In comparison "Pebble Time" raised the same amount in just half an hour. Movie "Veronica Mars" raised $1 million in just over four hours.
The popular game - "Exploding Kittens" is currently the hottest project on the platform and currently occupies the position as the most funded project raising $8,782,571. The game had raked up its first $2 million within 24 hours of its launch, according to Game Rant.
Elan Lee and the Oatmeal creator Matthew Inman created the highly-anticipated game. Next up "Ouya" and "Torment: Tides of Numenera" raised $ 8,596,474 and $ 4188,927, respectively. Now it is estimated that Yooka-Laylee is set to break all records and raise more than $25 Million - a staggering amount, according to GeekSnack.
The game features two lead characters who navigate the game. One is Yooka, a lizard, and the other is a bat named Laylee.
Playtonic Studios comprises of former employees of Rare studios including Steve Mayles, Chris Southerland from Banjo Kazooie and Gavin Price. Price was the lead on games such as Viva Piñata and Banjo Kazooie. He is the navigator of this project and an integral part of the design process as well.
