The fifth season of the hit reality show “China’s Next Top Model” will be produced by the rights and formats broker IPCN, with its CEO Rebacca Yang serving as the program’s executive producer.
The ChongQing Satellite Television (CQTV), through its vice director Liu Xuewei, commissioned the recently refinanced company to do the 12-part program.
"China's Next Top Model" will showcase the potential runway and modeling skills of 30 aspiring ladies, selected from around 50,000 applicants. It is currently being shot in Shanghai and Chongqing. For this cycle, the finale is set to take place in London.
The series' fifth season will have one of China's most admired fashion model-actresses, Lynn Hung (also known as Xiong Dailin), top male model Sean Zhang (aka Zhang Liang) and renowned style director Lucia Liu (aka Liu Lu) as its celebrity judges.
According to executive producer Yang, the show's fans can expect for a high-standard season.
The program's staff and crew are also "delighted to be bringing IPCN's expert Chinese production crew to London to shoot the finale in collaboration with our London-based team," Yang added.
"China's Next Top Model" is a spin-off to the widely popular Tyra Banks show, "America's Next Top Model." The Chinese franchise first kicked off in 2008 and has since then earned praises and following from its viewers.
The reality show's newest cycle is expected to run later this month.
Meanwhile, IPCN has also announced that it received a major investment from Gravity, an affiliate of the China Media Capital.
The firm said that its new financial resources will be utilized to produce and create original titles for both domestic and international broadcast markets. The company, founded by ex ITV executive Mick Desmond, will delve on scripted drama, comedy as well as non-scripted formats.
