Two previously unseen photos of one of the aliens alleged to have died in the crash of their UFO in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 is being touted as undeniable proof the Roswell incident did indeed occur.
Skeptics, however, argue the remains in the photos are that of a mummified human child with a deformed skull. They noted human babies do have disproportionally large heads as compared to the rest of their bodies, and this might lead some people to conclude the mummified remains are those of an alien creature.
The controversial photographs were taken using Kodachrome color film by the late oil geologist Bernard Ray between 1947 and 1949. They were discovered in a box in the attic of Ray's Arizona house by former journalist Adam Dew, who was said to have tried to verify the two photos showing a dead alien. Dew also claimed Kodak experts had dated the Kodachrome film to 1947.
UFO believers claim they did an extensive five-year study to conclude the photos were authentic.
The photos show what UFO believers claim to be the shrunken remains of an alien found dead in Roswell. The creature lies on a glass shelf and shows apparent signs of mummification.
The photos were shown at an event called Be a Witness held May 5 at the National Auditorium in Mexico City and attended by 10,000 people, said a story in Inquisitr.
Richard Dolan, a leading advocate of the theory aliens died at Roswell, said analysis of the body or creature "presented in the image, suggested that this is not a mummy, not a human, not a mammal and not a model, which would require a highly sophisticated detailed understanding of comparative anatomy among various species".
Mexican UFO specialist Jaime Maussan believes the photos must be real because at the time of the photo, a sketch of the extraterrestrial image did not exist, so there was no model for hoaxers to use to build a life-size model of a dead alien.
The images were a part of a presentation at an event called Be a Witness, which was held May 5 at the National Auditorium in Mexico City and drew an audience of 10,000 people
"(These photos) show the human race, beyond any doubt, that extraterrestrial visits are a reality," said Maussan.
Skeptics, however, said the mummified body in the photos doesn't look alien but more like a human with a large head, which is characteristic of a child's body.
"And that's likely what it is: a child's mummified body. In fact, it is not the first time that a mummified child's body has been mistaken for an alien. Long-dead bodies with deformed skulls have previously been mistaken for extraterrestrials, but there is nothing unusual about finding deformed skulls in the Americas; archaeologists have found them for years", said a story in Discovery News.
