Many Samsung Galaxy S6 owners are reporting viewing a purple speck that appears in their pictures taken with the front-facing camera of the smartphone.
Discussions and complaints about the issues are being posted on online forums. The user who first posted about this on Reddit said that the problem was not there when she bought the Galaxy S6 smartphone, as she claimed to have taken pictures from a few weeks ago that did not have the speck.
Other users who experienced the issue said that their units were replaced upon reporting the problem to Samsung. However, there have been no explanation from the company on what is leading to the problem. It has not been found out whether this defect is due to a hardware or software issue, according to Android Authority.
A user said that the problem is due to a defective camera sensor, which requires to be replaced. Samsung Galaxy S6 owners will notice the problem in photos taken in low-light conditions, and the solution should be to have the smartphone replaced.
There is a thread on the XDA Developers forum in which some users claimed that the dots that appear can be avoided by reducing the resolution of the picture that the Galaxy S6's front-facing camera takes from 5.0MP to 3.8MP. This is a not a good solution to the problem because it inhibits the user from accessing the best features that the smartphone is capable of.
So far, the problem appears to affect only the Galaxy S6. Users of Galaxy S6 Edge have not reported that they are experiencing the similar problem.
A problem with the camera flash LED of the Galaxy S6 smartphone has also been reported. Some owners reported that the light continues to remain dimly lit, despite having switched off the camera of the smartphone.
