Samsung is now accepting orders for Gear VR headset adapter for both Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy 6 smartphones. The Korean company is on its final stage of VR headset processing, providing owners a whole new virtual reality experience. While the headset is now available online for $199, it will not be offered at Best Buy until May 15.
Previously, Gear VR was only made for Galaxy Note 4 devices. This most recent version, only made compatible with the Galaxy S6 lineup, will work a lot like its predecessor.
Users will simply slot Galaxy S6 into the headset's front portion to activate usage. The device's 1440 x 2560 pixel display will serve as a screen for the headset. There is not much VR content for the headset still, but Samsung has released the contents for Gear VR through its Milk VR platform that render new virtual reality videos 5 days each week.
"Milk VR takes you running with the bulls, snowboarding or even on stage with some of your favorite musicians," Samsung announced.
Gear VR is the outcome of Oculus VR and Samsung's partnership. Oculus VR is the Facebook subsidiary behind the Oculus Rift headset, which technology is embedded in the GVR.
"In the weeks ahead, we'll be unveiling all details about software, hardware, input, and several others of our unannounced made-for-VR experiences and games coming to the Rift," Oculus VR said.
"Virtual reality is going to transform gaming, film, entertainment, communication, and much more," the American virtual reality technology company added.
Most gaming fans have anointed Oculus Rift as the gaming world's evolutionary milestone and the virtual reality champion.
